A Different Success Story: Case of a baby girl who was born about 24 weeks early

The success story this time is slightly different from the usual; it is the case of a baby girl who was born about 24 weeks early and weighed no more than 600 g, which led to her suffering from signs of premature birth such as incomplete development of the lungs, digestive problems, and eye problems, so quick intervention was necessary.

Indeed, the child was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Dammam Branch, supervised by Dr. Basima Saada; to receive the necessary treatments.

In the beginning, the problem of underdeveloped lungs and thus difficulty breathing was dealt with, with the help of a ventilator and the necessary medications to help improve the function of the lungs.

As for digestive problems, the newborn was fed in the normal way at first, but it did not work, so the doctors replaced it with nasogastric intubation; as for the eye problem, an external ophthalmologist was called to start the treatment, all at the same time to avoid any delay or complications.

With time, the child's condition improved, as her weight increased to 1.940 kg, in addition, she no longer needed the ventilator and was fed normally through the mouth, and even her eyes' health also improved, and she was ready to leave the hospital and return home with her family.

This success story speaks of the extent to which all the medical staff at the Saudi German Hospital in Dammam, including doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and social workers, have joined hands only to achieve one goal, which is to save the baby and give her a new lease on life.
